TC 12D tank container
Description
Tactical fuel solution for the entire supply chain
The all-new TC 12D tank container has been developed with the soldier’s operational usage patterns at its core, integrating transport, storage, and dispensing of diesel and jet fuel into a single robust and operational unit. The solution has furthermore been designed with a strong focus on significantly simplifying the logistical chain, both in terms of the container concept itself and the overall design of the fuel supply chain. By using the same type of container throughout all or major parts of the supply chain, a high degree of standardisation is achieved. This markedly enhances the unit’s ability to absorb losses of fuel equipment, while simultaneously increasing its capability for dispersed deployment. Without compromise, the TC 12D can operate across all levels of the logistics chain and enables temporally and spatially decoupled supply from 4th to 1st echelon.
Pump station and camp operations
The container can also be used as a standalone pump station, reducing the need for separate pump units in connection with container- or bladder-based fuel storage facilities. When used in camp or garrison environments, the unit can be equipped with a 400V electric drive system kit that allows for quick and easy connection.
Designed for contested environments
Unlike many comparable solutions, the unit is designed from the outset for use in contested environments, while still being easily adaptable to camp and garrison conditions – not the other way around. Overall, this more comprehensive fuel container solution delivers a lower total cost of ownership as well as a significantly reduced logistical and physical footprint in the battlespace.
Improved training and fleet management
Standardisation also enables harmonised training for both soldiers and mechanics, while reducing complexity in fleet management and lowering spare parts inventory costs. As a result, the overall logistical burden is significantly reduced.
Payload, mobility, C1 and C2 configuration
The TC 12D is a specially engineered, robust 20-foot ISO container with a steel base frame and a single-wall aluminium tank with a fuel capacity of 12,000 litres. The removable CSC-approved top frame allows stacking of up to nine units during deployment and staging. When the top frame is removed, the weight is reduced by 1.5 tonnes, significantly improving mobility and increasing payload capacity by up to 12 m³, corresponding to approximately 20% more than competing solutions. The result is a substantially reduced logistical footprint.
The container can be handled fully loaded using hook-lift systems, forklift pockets, and top lifting, providing maximum flexibility in the field. It is designed for extreme climatic conditions with a standard operating temperature range from −32 °C to +49 °C (C1) and an optional C2 configuration down to −40 °C (C2).
Dispensing equipment and capacity
For fuel dispensing, the TC 12D is equipped with three automatically retractable hoses: two smaller hoses for vehicle refuelling and one large hose for rapid container-to-container transfer. The system supports both suction and pumping with a capacity of up to approximately 1,000 litres per minute.
Power unit and fuel compatibility
The unit is fully self-sufficient with its own power system, driven by a robust Euro 3 engine capable of operating on NATO Single Fuel F-34, ensuring full compatibility with military fuel standards.
Additional capacity and safety equipment
In addition, the TC 12D can accommodate up to 20 jerry cans, providing flexibility for supplying other POL products and enabling efficient circulation of fuel cans throughout the supply chain. A heated equipment locker ensures that the soldier’s personal protective equipment remains dry and ready for use, while a dedicated ADR locker consolidates all safety equipment for quick access and efficient asset control.
Standards and approvals
The TC 12D is designed to comply with international standards such as ADR, RID, and CSC, and can be configured for IMDG sea transport. The solution combines high mobility, safety, and efficiency, delivering a complete tactical fuel solution for the entire logistics supply chain.
