The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) approached us earlier this year with a request for a solution for bunkering ships at Naval Station Frederikshavn.
The existing solution needed optimization, and a need had arisen for a better and more ergonomic solution.
“It’s really hard to run many meters a day with the heavy hoses over our shoulders, so we’re really happy with a solution that takes ergonomics into account,” says one of the permanent employees in the port area.
HMK Bilcon took on the task and, in collaboration with DALO, created a good solution where 2 hose drums are built on a frame designed for transport by forklift. The 2 hose drums, which run in opposite directions, are electrically powered, controlled by remote control, and can be operated independently of each other, which means that it won’t be to heavy for users to handle their tasks.
In addition, the units are equipped with an air tank, and the remote control allows the hoses to be blown free of oil after use.
Throughout the project, both DALO and HMK Bilcon have placed great emphasis on a solution-oriented and constructive dialogue, so that the product has ended up being of great benefit to the end users.
